Composite bridges

Composite bridges are over-hanging structures which would be un-thinkable without shear connectors. On long bridges there are often several tens of thousands of studs, affording a lasting connection between the supporting steel structure and concrete slabs.

In so-called double-composite structures the lower flange also has a composite cross-section.
